Epic Costa Rica Winter 2020
We had such a fantastic trip to Costa Rica over Christmas and New Year’s, December 25 through January 7. We started in Manuel Antonio, followed by 2 nights at Tabacón at Arenal Volcano, then we took a small 4 seater plane to Drake Bay Wilderness Resort and then the final 4 nights at the most amazing place called Bosque del Cabo. Too many incredible photos and so many great experiences!

Pura Vida in Manuel Antonio
We spent Christmas Day in Manuel Antonio with jungle views from our room, fresh juices, giant dolphin floats in the pool and white-faced monkeys hanging off our balcony.
Mangrove Boat Tour & the Monkeys
A boat tour through the mangroves where we spotted a boa curled up in the branches and the capuchin monkeys jumped right onto the boat, and onto us!
Parasailing in Manuel Antonio
A big beach day in Manuel Antonio and the highlight, parasailing over the ocean under a giant smiley face parachute. Then sandcastles and swimming in the waves.
Arenal Volcano
Tabacón Hot Springs
Two nights at Tabacón with robes, natural hot springs and warm waterfalls to sit under. The girls loved it.
Hanging Bridges, Waterfalls & Arenal Volcano
We walked the hanging bridges through the rainforest, stood under waterfalls, spotted toucans through the guide’s scope, learned about cacao and coffee, and had great views of Arenal Volcano.
Drake Bay
Flying to Drake Bay
We flew to Drake Bay on a tiny 4 seater plane! New Year’s Eve at the Drake Bay Wilderness Resort with hanging bridges, monkeys everywhere, scarlet macaws and the girls climbing the giant bamboo.
New Year’s Day Hike
We started 2021 with a hike through the jungle to a river, explored the rocky coastline, drank fresh coconuts and even caught a rainbow.
Snorkeling & Horseback Riding on the Beach
A boat ride out for snorkeling, then a horseback ride through the jungle and along the beach.
Beach Day & Canoeing the River
Beach day in Drake Bay, then we paddled a canoe up the river with a stop to see the toucans.
Bosque del Cabo
Baby Sea Turtles!
One of the coolest things we have ever done. At Bosque del Cabo we helped release baby sea turtles and watched them race across the sand into the ocean.
Jungle Trails & Tide Pools
More baby turtles, jungle trails down to the beach, exploring tide pools, spider monkeys in the trees and lots of fresh juice by the pool.
Ziplining & Wildlife
Ziplining through the rainforest canopy! We also saw peccaries, agoutis, giant strangler fig trees and so many butterflies.
Ocean Pools, Waterfall & Heading Home
Our last full day we swam in the ocean pools in the rocks and hiked to a waterfall where we all got soaked. Then a little plane back to San José and breakfast before heading home. Pura vida!
